100 years of history

From a Catholic seminar in 1927 to ISSU in 2026

The school began in 1927 as a Catholic school, then called the Mariannhiller Seminar / Convent. In 2017 it became the International School Altdorf (ISA), and in 2026 it becomes ISSU.

ISSU continues on the same site. This school has survived the Second World War, many economic shocks, the COVID-19 pandemic and the departure of its previous management to the Canton of Luzern. Today it starts a new life under new management, with stronger links to the community and an open philosophy.

We are proud to work with the Stiftung Mariannhiller, which hosts the school in its buildings.

Centenary celebration, 2027

We will celebrate a hundred years of history in a big way, in several stages through 2027. Invited: the people of Altdorf, former students and alumni, the government of the Canton of Uri and the Stiftung Mariannhiller.

Alumni: write to contact@issu.site to join our list.
